Krav Maga. It was developed so anyone can use it effectively
Listen to me bud. I have been training in the martial arts for a couple of years know and have practiced and tried some different styles. I know what I am talking about. Look if you live in or around a bad neighborhood where people may want to harm you or actually attempt to harm you than you better know a good no noscense “street effective martial art.” I would go no further than WingChun Kung Fu and thats if its available in your area. Look dont bother with videos that teach because most of its just nonscense ok. You need one on one training. Look anything is better than nothing. I personally know how to fight. It’s good to know when you can win. In the end the real battle is within yourself friend. Good Luck and keep training.
KickYoAss-a-tei is the best because you be kicking some asssss
First off, martial arts are to defend life and limb, not honor. Honor fights involve pistols at dawn and were outlawed a long time ago.
For self-defense purposes, it all depends what you’re comfortable with. Your first choice should be between a striking art, a grappling art, or an hybrid. What I suggest you do is learn about the arts, start picking up books, watching videos on youtube, etc.. and learn about what exists. Go with what interests you the most and try to find a school. You may have to settle for second or third choice, depending on what’s available. But go with your gut, your instinct is usually right. Remember: There is no such thing as the “best” art. What you’re looking for is what’s right for you.
Start training and do it seriously. If you train long and hard at a good school, your attitude and demeanor Will change. Chances are you won’t even be interested in “honor” fights in the street anymore. Plus, your attitude and body language will also change and chances are you won’t get picked on half as much.
Good luck to you.
Whenever I know I am going to be involved in a potentially dangerous situation, (fight, Drug Deal, etc.) I watch The Matrix, or a few exerps from History of Violence first. I go into the situation assuming that I am Neo, and that all the guys who might give me **** are “Bad Guys”. I also make sure to draw a very clear line, (without challenging anyones “respect”) so that they know that I am serious, and not someone to push around.
I guess I radiate enough confidence to convince these types of people that it’s not worth it to give me ****. It’s worked well so far, thats what I’d reccomend untill you have learned a good self defense system.
lol, or you could just buy a gun. It’ll be hard for them to jump you if they’re dead.
I have been in Martial Arts for about 12yrs and to be totally honest with you it won’t help you in a street fight. It wouold teach how how to hit, and how to take a hit though. A lot of it comes from street smarts. The best and closest to street fighting would be Tang Soo Do. Good luck
Ok,
try a different approach. STOP WALKING THROUGH BAD NEIGHBORHOODS!!!
kick boxing/muay thai, easiest to disarm and/or injure the attacker
Muay Thai Kickboxing if you like Striking.
Brazillian Jiu Jitsu if you like grappling.
Both if you’re willing to take the time to learn.
muy tai
boxing
Capoeira hands down………
I would say maybe boxing or either kung-fu and possible for your body type judo. GOOD LUCK, BTW, just pay attention and do what your/ sensai seafoo tells you and you’ll be getting your belt in no time
Taekwondo can be very deadly but only if used by the right person.
Judo and Muay Thai are common styles for self defence (a good judo throw can incapacitate someone and Muay Thai teaches you to just beat people up) Krav Maga is also a popular style for self defence as well. Just one more thing I find just walking with an air of being the biggest bad *** on the block works just as well as any martial art any I’m ten pounds lighter than you
To-Shin Do. Check out http://www.skhquest.com.
http://www.kickboxing.com has a list of different martial arts and a little bit about each of them, that might help you decide. Have you check into what kinds of schools are around you? You may only have a few choices. I’m kind of partial to MMA schools, because they are really well-rounded. It’s important to learn stand-up and ground game. Kickboxing or Muay Thai are great for stand-up, and I would recommend jujitsu for the ground.
If you can just walk away, you should do that. It takes a stronger person to walk away, and hurting people needlessly doesn’t do much for your honor. It doesn’t hurt to be prepared in case that’s not an option, though. Good luck!
